This would allow admins to upload larger files for users or for site wide galleries and file systems.

Backend issue is due to no client side resize support in backend. That's something to improve in CB itself. Ignoring the validation could cause other unknown issues and is not worth the risk. It would be better for admins to use a separate gallery that only they can upload to with increased limits then simply display that gallery to the user. This avoids having to bypass validation and allows admin specific upload behaviors.
