Feature proposal #8539
closedReview default setting for "Emails Sent From" and possible no-reply@ third choice
Description
SPF and DMARC are more and more enforced, and the default setting for General / "Emails Sent From" to be "from user address" can give a bad deliverability (mails going into spam folder).
The default choice could become "Send from admin mail", but has the privacy drawbacks, so not sur if we can make that change ?
A third choice could become no-reply@same-domain-name
Now if that email address doesn't exist it can also lead to deliverability issues. So not sure if it is a good default choice, but probably still the best one to avoid the privacy issues with bounces when sending from admin email with user reply, and avoiding basic SPF and DMARC issues.
Thoughts from CB Team ?

Default should probably be changed to use replyto. As is the default is basically email spoofing since it sets the from address to the users address, but sends from an unrelated server. Used to be a non-issue years back when the default was set, but I doubt there's many mail servers that'll allow it anymore and will just flag the outbound mail as spam.
