Description

MySQL 5.7 is still not widely available on smaller hosts. It was only going to be require to be able to use some JSON functions and JSON columns, but those aren't really necessary. So at this time there isn't a reason to directly require 5.7. This may change in the future (as Joomla 4 has also noted on its technical requirements page), but for now it should wait.
