If first and last name fields are used, but a name is sent through name splits as "First Last Last" it's stored as "First Last" and "Last" instead of "Last Last". It's not common to add middle or a lastname with a space in it to the first name, but is instead just added with the last name. Should be just a matter of fixing first and last name field usage to split on first occurrence of space instead of last.
